We spent the better part of 4 months back in 2005 convincing, pleading, and cajoling Lynn Costner of Sunny Mesa Alpacas to part with her beloved Champion female, Tessora. Needless to say the past couple of years have proven why we were so persistent! Quality begets quality, go figure. For when we bred Tess with our fully restricted Champion Herdsire, SuperNova, she produced the cria we had been hoping and dreaming of: CCNF Talon. It is not often that a young male is born into our herd that we feel is a potential legitimate replacement for their respective sire. That is a very high standard to meet when your father has shown the prepotency of SuperNova. Yet seeing the way both SuperNova and Tessora have aged (and more to the point, they really haven't) it is undeniable that in choosing to let young Talon leave our control we may well be passing on the best SuperNova son yet. For that reason we are hedging our bets and are retaining five future breedings to him. We are also expecting the birth of his full sibling this year, not that his half-sister Saphira (a 2009 show stringer and blue ribbon winner) is exactly a slouch either! Talon displays the fine, bright, dense, and highly organized fleece that we have come to expect from the SuperNova line (with a strong assist from Tessora too) all on the upright frame of his dam. Combine that with a calm but undeniable presence and you truly have the complete package. Want to talk pedigree? He's got that too: Hemingway, Leon, Royal Fawn, Grandmaster, Augusto, and Starr Khan just to drop a few of the names that run in his blood. Bring him home, breed him, and reap the benefits of this powerhouse! |
